Currently, many products offered for sale in our country have an EAC mark on their packaging, which means that they are safe and approved for use throughout the Customs Union. Especially important for electronics is the fact that products with this mark are serviced and warranted throughout the Customs Union. This mark was invented to simplify trade relations between EEC member states.
Appearance and requirements of the EAC marking
The EAC marking requirements are specified in the Regulation No. 711 approved by the special commission of the Customs Union; it consists of the Latin letters “E”, “A” and “C” depicted in the same color scheme with lines and right angles of the same size and together making a square. The symbols can be applied on a contrasting or light background.
The minimum size must be no less than 5 mm and is independently determined by the person authorized to apply it, provided it is visible and distinguishable on the package. There are no legal restrictions on the maximum size. The marking is subject to application both on a single product unit and on the total package, as well as indicated in the accompanying documentation.
The location of the mark for each product is prescribed in the technical regulations and must be strictly observed. It is forbidden to affix extraneous markings resembling the EAC mark if they could misleadingly resemble it.
The EAC mark https://mastcert.com/eac-marking/ indicates that the import of goods into the territory of Russia and other countries of the Eurasian Customs Union is allowed, so the absence of the marking is sufficient reason for it to be detained at the border.
How to avoid labeling problems
During the preparation for the certification procedure or product declaration, it is necessary to clearly define the information that needs to be indicated. The certification officer should check the labeling and indicate if there are any shortcomings, after which a sample label is sent to the seller to be applied to the package.
Before shipping, make sure that everything has been done correctly and according to the specialist’s recommendations.
It is very important to make sure that the package of goods does not contain extraneous marks that may be left over from past shipments, which happens when it is reused.
There is a possibility of checking the presence of the marking of goods and their application in the customs warehouse in case the declaration is not yet filed. This is associated with additional costs but can prevent further problems when there is no confidence in the seller’s honesty.
